We were asked by Halfords to produce 28 product videos and full brand video for their Carrera bike and e-scooter product range. We were also asked to supply photography to accompany the videos for their main website.

Over 6 months, we worked with Halford’s marketing team in supporting them with concept ideas, location scouting, full production and delivery of every media asset.

Our team filmed in many different locations including; North Wales, Elan Valley, Bristol City Centre, Cheltenham Town Centre as well as Gloucester Docks and surrounding areas – as well as taking care of all admin and filming documentation for each location.

Halford’s used the assets on their main website and in-store screens to show their products in use with the aim to sell to potential buyers.

Our Process

Step 1

Creative

During the concept phase we produced 5 concepts for the Halfords marketing team to review. We drew inspiration from other videos and from what they had produced previously. The aim was to highlight different USP’s of each bike as well as showing the product being used on location. We used storyboards to help illustrate the concepts.

planning

Step 2

Planning

With around 12 filming days and over 40 models of bikes to film, the planning process was crucial in the success of this project. Each bike had to be placed at a location and sized to each model rider. We went on various location scouts across the country. During this stage, working out how a production crew of 10 people, with kit, were all going to get to these remote locations was definitely a challenge!

production

Step 3

Production

We filmed at some stunning locations across the UK for this project. We chose to film in the summer to maximise daylight and at locations such as North Wales where you could also get varied weather to create diverse imagery. Our team included 3 camera operators, a producer and director, a photographer, drone operator and driver. On most of the shoots we had 2 riders to model men and women bikes and with the marketing team from Halfords included, the crew was around 10 people. Everyday we had to film 2-3 models of bike so we had early starts and some late finishes. We positioned multiple cameras on the trails to ensure we could capture as much footage as possible in one go as well as a drone in the sky.

post-production

Step 4

Post-Production

Post-production was the longest process of this project. We produced multiple versions of a video before it was signed off. Once we had sign-off for each video we then created custom GFX callouts for each individual USP on each bike model. Once all videos and photography assets were created they were delivered to Halfords and sat on their website and in-store screens.
