Take a look behind-the-scenes of our brand campaign with Halfords, one of the UK’s largest retailers.

In 2021 we produced 27 product videos for Halfords as well as a full brand advert for the whole range of bikes. Our brief was to represent the Carrera Brand in the correct way giving a sense of adventure and not sticking to the standard format of cutting shots over a basic soundtrack. We designed and pitched a concept to Halfords in late November 2020 that included graphics and immersive sound design to tighten the production and break the norm of what they have had made before.

We got the green light in December 2020 and the majority of the start of 2021 we were into pre-production.

Pre-production is a crucial time for any project. This is where it can be won or lost in certain ways and with such a complex and vast project it was crucial we got this right. We had to film the full range in different locations across the UK with different models making sure we kept to the client brief.

Our first task was to work out where we could film and for the right costs (location permits can be expensive!). During this time we scouted across Wales and the UK, booked the locations and shortlisted our models. With certain bikes such as road and mountain bikes we needed competent riders who could really show them off to their full potential. We carried out many test shoots with different camera rigs to ensure we would get the right results when filming for real!. You can see the Tilta Hydra Alien being used in the video above. This was modified so we could use it for filming our road bikes in Wales.

We brought in some fantastic camera guys and production assistants to add to our crew and an expert bike photographer in Doc Ward who helped us get those dynamic and striking stills.

Production started in June 2021.

We filmed across some stunning locations throughout the summer months, including Elan Valley, Antur Stiniog in Snowdonia, Forest of Dean, Bristol City Centre, Ashton Court Estate and Pittville Park in Cheltenham. It felt great to be able to take a crew of people out on these shoots and work within some incredible scenery. Sometimes you take the UK for granted but after the numerous lockdowns and being stuck in doors with work halted, you really appreciate what is just on your doorstep!.

Take a look at the video above to see some of the locations where we filmed.

Our videos were used for social media and PPC advertising as well as the Halfords official website. We have a full brand advert coming out this year and we cant wait to show you!
